I loved this place!
I visited Barker Tea House in High Street Arcade on a busy Saturday afternoon! I could tell this place was going to be special as soon as I walked in. There were people queuing for seats!
We told a waiter we had booked afternoon tea and we were whisked away upstairs to a relaxing dining area away from the hustle and bustle of downstairs. I love the vintage features and the detail in everything. The vintage china, the doilies, the lights, it really is a special venue.

We were offered a choice of teas and even what type of milk we would like (that’s a first). Our teas were delivered quickly and our food was soon after.

Our cake stands were placed on a mini table next to our table. I loved the presentation and we had a cake stand each!
The sandwiches were full to the brim with filling. They included egg, cucumber, chicken and cheese & tomato. They were really filling!

There were two scones each which were huge! One fruit scone and one plain. I could only eat one as I was nearly full from the sandwiches. Nice jam and clotted cream.

We weren’t given a choice of cakes which was a bit disappointing. We were given one slice of Red Velvet and one Parma Violet cake between us, chocolate brownies and macaroons. All were lovely, but I struggled to eat it all. I would normally have asked for a box but we were going out after and I didn’t fancy carrying it with me.

Iv’e never mentioned venue toilets before, but they deserve a mention at Barker Tea House! They were tucked away in the basement, there was a bit of a walk to find them but the decor and attention to detail was fantastic. I should have taken my camera down. Definitely worth a visit even if you don’t need to loo!

I really enjoyed the afternoon tea at Barker Tea House. It is in a fab central location for a day out shopping or going out for cocktails after like me.
