Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor

The Slider’s Afternoon Tea at the Coldra Court Hotel was the perfect Christmas gift for my husband. He still talks about it now!

Just before Christmas the Celtic Manor had a promotion for 20% off afternoon tea vouchers. After the lovely Resort tea I’d had, I thought the sliders would be nice gift, that I can enjoy too!

The hotel is located near the Celtic Manor hotel. The hotel was really smart and had been recently renovated from it’s previous days as a Hilton. There was lots of fancy lighting, but it played havoc with lots of shadows in my pictures!

They only serve the Slider’s afternoon tea on Saturday’s and the restaurant was very quiet. We visited in late January, but maybe we were just eager to use our voucher.

Our waiter showed us to our table, he was very enthusiastic and chatty. My husband asked for hot chocolate as he doesn’t like tea or coffee. Most places would have no problem, but the waiter had to check first or we would be charged extra. Luckily he was allowed to have it included. There was a range of teas on offer, but I stuck with my trusty breakfast tea.

The sliders arrived and the presentation was fantastic. They looked very impressive on their slate. There were five different burgers and a pot of chips. The burgers included bacon & cheese, Thai fishcake & prawn, pulled chicken & coleslaw, venison burger and bone marrow beef burger. We were still busy taking photos of the burgers while our dessert slates were delivered. Again, the presentation was top notch. I did laugh when I saw a big syringe of jam. The waiter explained the syringe was for filling your own doughnuts. There was a mini vanilla milkshake, mini custard slice, mini pecan pie and peanut butter doughnuts. All were really good and I my husband was hoping I would be too full and give him some of mine.

The food was really good and I would definitely recommend it for a gift for the man in your life, on the condition they take you with them! Perfect gift for fathers day too!

The Rib Smokehouse and Grill Sliders afternoon tea is £19.95 per person and can booked online. It was very impressive and I now expect this from the Celtic Manor Resort. I just need to try the Mulberry Bar afternoon tea to tick off my list!
