Llanerch Vineyard

Llanerch Vineyard is a romantic venue in Hensol. It’s nice to escape to the ‘country’ even though its only 2 mins from the M4. I have been before for a wedding and an afternoon tea hen party. They have also recently opened a hotel, which looks very swish.

We visited in January so it was still a bit wintery in the vineyard. We were sat in the perfect seat in the window. It’s a lovely bright room and it was decorated with fairy lights. We went as a group of three so one of the cake stands was for an individual- Luckily it wasn’t to share between three.

There are a variety of loose tea on the menu, I picked the afternoon tea blend. There was a range of decaf and fruit teas.

The menu changes seasonally using seasonal ingredients. The open sandwiches were a nice change to the usual triangle or finger sandwiches. They looked so delicate and delicious. We had cucumber and cream cheese, ham hock and piccalilli, tuna mayo, chicken with sundried tomato mayo and egg and cress.

The middle tier consisted of a sausage roll slice, a lavender Welshcake, a scone and clotted cream and jam. I think I would have put the sausage roll on the sandwiches plate as it felt a bit out of place.

The top tier consisted of cute mini desserts including a chocolate eclair and a popping candy pannacotta which was certainly different. It was actually quite amusing when three of us were eating the pannacotta.

LLanerch is a nice romantic setting and the food is excellent. Particularly nice on a sunny day for the views. You can also add on a glass of their own Cariad wine which is a nice touch. Lovely classy venue for a catch up with friends, a date or baby showers and civilised hen parties.
