If like me you have been craving afternoon tea during Covid lockdown and restrictions, delivery afternoon tea services have been filling the gap for the perfect treat and break from cooking. I have tried making my own afternoon tea a few times since lockdown but after hours in the kitchen and then all the washing up, It was a whole day of effort for something that was eaten without barely touching the sides.
I was invited to try the new afternoon tea delivery box from a new company Tea Leaf Afternoon Tea for my honest feedback. I was excited to help out a brand new business, provide my honest feedback and to get my vintage china out again.
The delivery was a smooth non contact delivery and the packaging was so lovely, along with a sprig of eucalyptus for decoration. It looked like the perfect gift and felt extra special.
The savories included sandwiches, croissant and a wrap. The finger sandwiches of egg mayo and salmon creme cheese are classic afternoon tea favourites. The croissant was the most deliciously buttery brioche and was filled with thick ham and salad. My favourite was the falafel, houmous & sweet chilli wrap. That was something really different and so tasty.
The clotted cream scones were a really good size and came with two pots of clotted cream and strawberry jam, so no worry of running out of clotted cream. The lemon cakes were nicely decorated and were refreshing.
The chocolate brownie was rich with lots of caramel, I had to cut mine in half and saved the rest for later. The meringue was just perfect with a gooey centre, flavoured with raspberry.
My husband and I really enjoyed our afternoon tea. The portion was good as it filled up my husband and I saved a bit for later that evening. The doggie bag is always a bonus when you go for afternoon tea.
It would also be perfect for a socially distanced baby shower, hen party or event. Gift vouchers are also available via Instagram and would be a lovely gift for a loved one as it truly was perfect.
